Froch got himself worked up and said this as quoted by the Telegraph.co.uk “If I have to I will kill this f*****. I will kill him. It sounds brutal, it sounds horrible, but that is what it means to me…when I smash his face in, I am going for the kill.”

Robert Smith, the general secretary of the British Boxing Board of Control, said to Sky Sports “We are looking into it and will deal with it accordingly…we are not in a position to do anything about it before the fight.”

I’ve seen fighters say some incredible things and do some wild things to try and hype a fight, but I’ve never seen a fighter go to the level Froch did by talking about wanting to possibly kill Kessler if he has to. That’s obviously going way overboard and I wonder if this was a planned thing by Froch or a situation where he kind of lost control of himself after working up a lather talking at the press conference.

When Froch was up there at the podium at the press conference talking about the fight with Kessler, Froch looked genuinely angry. He’s not an actor, so I don’t think it was him acting a part. Froch seemed furious for some reason. It was strange because when the camera panned to Kessler, he was half asleep, and looked bored and slightly amused as he listened to Froch work himself up. If Froch was trying to upset Kessler, it wasn’t working because Kessler looked totally unconcerned.

Last night, Froch apologized on his twitter account, saying “I’m sorry if my comments yesterday offended anyone. This fight means so much to me and emotions are running high.”

I hope Froch doesn’t lose it in the ring on Saturday night because I’d hate it if he lost control of himself and started trying to do away with Kessler in front of the huge audience at the O2. They’d have to drag Froch out of there and it would be an ugly sight. If I’m Kessler’s people, I’m making sure that security is available to jump in the ring if Froch blows a rod and starts going for the old coup de gras.
