Who next for Deontay Wilder?

deontay32by Joe Walker: After Saturday’s 1st round stoppage win over Audley Harrison, Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (28-0, 28 KO’s) now ranked 9th by WBA called out Tyson fury with a rhyme and calling him “Tyson feary.” He has since expressed his desire to fight in the UK again in the future. I hope so. He seems like a very nice person and adds something new to the heavyweight division.

The heavyweight division has been lacking characters, and Deontay adds that and so does Tyson Fury and David Haye.

Looking at it realistically, could the “Bronze Bomber” be fighting a British fighter next or in the near future? Although a fight between Fury and Wilder is one that a lot of people would like to see, in my personal opinion I can’t see it happening. It was a very clever stunt by Wilder to call Fury out, as Fury is certain to be fighting the unbeaten #1 IBF Kubrat Pulev (17-0, 9 KO’s) next as Fury tries to work his way to a title shot. Also, Fury splits opinions; He is loved by some, and hated by others. I think it was planned to push Wilder’s name in the UK and get himself some good press as he isn’t known that well by most British people.

There is the possibility of him fighting David Price. First, Price has to get the win over Tony Thompson in their rematch this July, which will not be a walk in the park for Price. The Thompson fight is not for a few months now. So we will have to wait and see if Wilder is going to wait that long for a fight. If they could get the fight together, it would make for a interesting one for a few reasons. First, to see if Price really has got a weak chin or if the shot by Thompson was a one off that caught him on his ear. Second, to see how Wilder’s chin is. Price, like Wilder, can also bang. Price is a good technical fighter and is now working with Lennox Lewis. I do not think the fight will happen this but I do hope I am wrong.

That leaves “Del Boy” Dereck Chisora, which for me is a fight I can see being made. Chisora didnt look good last time he was out; maybe because he was out for a while due to him being banned for fighting David Haye at press conference, spitting in the face of Wladimir Klitschko and slapping Vitali Klitshko in the face. Chisora is a rough fighter can take a punch and is well known in Britain mainly because of his fights with Haye and Vitali klitschko. If Deontay could get Chisora out faster and with more style than Haye and Fury did, it would make waves in Britain and America.

I didn’t mention Haye as that fight won’t happen not unless Deontay become’s heavyweight champion in his next two fights, which is doubtful. Whoever Deontay fights next I will by watching with a keen eye whether the person be British or not.
