Tyson Fury talks Wilder and Khan-Diaz

deontay11By Scott Gilfoid Heavyweight Tyson Fury says if the unbeaten American heavyweight Deontay Wilder (28-0, 28 KO’s) wants to fight him then he’s going to have go get in line behind the other heavyweight fights he’s got planned.

Fury saw Amir Khan’s fight with Julio Diaz last night, and he came away thinking that Diaz should have been given the decision. I agree with Fury in that. Diaz did more than enough to win a close decision given the knockdown and the fact that he won three out of the last four rounds.

Fury plans on fighting #1 WBO Kubrat Pulev next to try and become the mandatory challenger to IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. Fury might also take on David Haye before the Klitschko fight, as Haye’s trainer/manager Adam Booth is interested in making that fight.

Fury said on his twitter: “Khan was s**t tonight [and his] trainer [Virgil Hunter] was s**t too! He [Khan] is proper gone [over-the-hill] now. [Julio] Diaz wins for me. @BronzeBomber [Deontay Wilder] LONG WAY TO GO, BOY. WINDMILLING LIKE A B***H AND KOING AN OLD MAN [Audley Harrison]. GREAT JOB! JOIN THE BIG CUE.”

I guess I can’t blame Fury for wanting to take the fight with Pulev because if he wins that fight, he’ll lock himself in as the mandatory challenger for Wladimir Klitschko. Being the mandatory challenger will give Fury a much better payday than he’d get in a dangerous fight against Deontay. Fury also has the chance of getting a fight with David Haye.

That’s also a fight that would pay more than a fight with Deontay, so that’s a smart move on Fury’s part as well. There’s no sense in him fighting Deontay and getting knocked out for chump change when he has the chance to make a lot more if he can somehow get past Pulev. I can’t see that happening, but Fury might get lucky if he get the fight staged in the UK and maybe win a hometown decision.

Fury was dead on correct about Khan. He does look like he’s over-the-hill now and his trainer Hunter seemed completely lost and helpless standing outside of the ring trying to give Khan pep talks in between rounds.
