Tomorrow we will see another pointless fight for Deontay Wilder

wilder213By Mark Havey: Deontay Wilder talks about his fight with Audley Harrison being defining. It certainly is. But it only goes to show how slowing his career is being handled and with extreme caution. Audley Harrison vs Deontay Wilder is of very little importance. Neither have a top 10 ranking and neither will have any time soon. For Audley that boat has sailed. And Deontay’s team see no rush in putting him in with the top fighters.

I can only assume that Harrison has got this fight on the back of his Prizefighter win. But that format suits him perfectly. I have always said that you can put Harrison in every Prizefighter and you will see him win every time. say what you like about him as a pro, but in the unpaid ranks he was impressive. But he have repeatedly heard him say, “Yes I can” whilst seeing time and time again, no he can’t.

Most of Wilders opponents are unheard of. I know that it is easy to look good against mediocre opposition. Yet what I have seen of him, he has the talented for a top 10 ranking. I don’t think he would beat the Klitschko’s or even David Price. But I can see him beating Tyson Fury. He seems to have the talent. But considering he has been held back it makes me think that maybe his team know something I don’t. After just 16 fights, Davis Price has been talked about as a future Klitschko opponent. So has Tyson Fury after 21 fights. the Klitschko Brothers have endorsed both as future champions. After 27 fights, Wilder hasn’t registered on any champions radar and hasn’t achieved a top 10 ranking. He should have a title by now or at least faced a ranked opponent. There are boxers who have had less fights yet are multiple weight champions.

I don’t know why Wilder is being held back. If things change I can see him having a bright future. Like I said, he has the ability. He isn’t ready for certain fights but by taking tough tests he will improve. It isn’t hard at all seeing him as a world champion. but he needs to step up to gain that experience.
