pulev56By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten #1 IBF Kubrat Pulev (17-0, 9 KO’s) is reportedly one of the fighters that has been contacted by David Haye’s team for a fight on June 29th at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, UK.

The 6’4 ½” Pulev is waiting for Tyson Fury to face Steve Cunningham this month on April 20th so that he can face the winner of that fight in an IBF heavyweight eliminator bout, but I’m sure that the 31-year-old Pulev would take the fight with Haye if it were offered to him.

Besides Pulev being under consideration for the Haye fight on June 29th, there is also Jovar Pudar, Vyacheslav Glazkow, Manuel Charr, Robert Helenius and Denis Boytsov. Charr, 28, is considered to be the #1 leading candidate to get the fight.

Charr is painfully slow and was recently knocked out by WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in the 4th round last year in September. The fact that Vitali chose him out of all the heavyweights to fight could potentially give Haye cover for facing him.

Haye’s excuse for fighting Charr would likely be something along the lines of ‘Well, if he was good enough for Vitali to fight then he’s good enough for me.’ I don’t expect Haye to be fighting anyone good that actually could beat him like Pulev, so I wouldn’t be surprised if his manager/trainer Adam Booth makes an announcement soon that Charr is the guy that they’ll be fighting because he’s an easy mark due to his lack of hand speed and big time power. If you put Haye in with someone like Pulev, we’d likely see Haye get beaten like he was by Wladimir Klitschko in 2011.

Helenius won’t get picked either by Haye. Helenius has a hand injury from his recent win over Michael Sprott and I doubt it’ll be healed by June.
