Khan: Fury needs to keep quiet and prove himself

fury68By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan thinks unbeaten heavyweight contender should stop talking so much in the media about how great he is and start trying to prove himself instead. Fury has been calling himself the best heavyweight fighter in the planet recently in what some boxing fans see as a poor imitation of Muhammad Ali.

Fury doesn’t have Ali’s skills and instead has been beating 3rd tier heavyweights with his big size advantage over them.

Khan said to the mirror.co.uk “With Tyson Fury, he hasn’t proven anything or won anything big yet…If I were him, I’d stay quiet and show off my skills.”

It’s probably useless to give Fury any advice about keeping his trap shut because he seems to be the type that really likes to toot his own horn, and he’s not likely going to listen to someone like Khan or anyone else for that matter.

If a guy really believes he’s the best fighter on the planet then who is there that he’s going to listen to? If he thinks he’s the king s*** then there isn’t anyone out there that will be able to change his mind about how he’s going about trying to become popular.

Fury faces 36-year-old former IBF cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham this Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York. Fury’s promoter has picked out a small heavyweight for Fury to fight instead of a bigger guy that could give him a lot of problems.

I still think Cunningham has the potential to make Fury look really bad in this fight and possibly even pull off an upset in front of the American crowd. This is the wrong fighting style for Fury and I think he’s going to have a lot of problems with the movement and the speed from Cunningham.
