haye44444By Joe Walker: The “Hayemaker” David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) has confirmed that he will face 28 year old “Diamond Boy” Manuel Charr (23-1, 13 KO’s) in Manchester on the 29th of June at the Manchester Arena. Also Haye, 32, has made a commercial relationship with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn Of Matchroom Sports. People have criticized that Charr is a weak fight for Haye to come back on, which I believe to be rubbish.

Charr is tough fighter that knows the game well. His only loss was to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in September of last year in a fight where Charr was halted in the 4th round on cuts. Charr is ranked #8 by WBC.

Manuel has been calling out Haye for some time now, and has got his wish with this fight. People are saying that Haye should be fighting someone of renown and ranked higher by all official sanctioning bodies, but I don’t think there are many fighters that would fight Haye. It will give everybody the chance to see if Haye is still the same fighter that became unified world cruiserweight champion, and WBA heavyweight champion in just 24 fights.

I can’t see who Haye will fight after the Charr bout. As I see it the heavyweight division doesn’t have any stand out fighters. You can’t argue that unbeaten heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (28-0, 28 KO’s) deserves the shot against Haye, even though Wilder is ranked #9 by the World Boxing Association (WBA) and is close to the same ranking as the #8 WBC Charr.

As for unbeaten Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s), it looks like he will be fighting #1 IBF Kubrat Pulev (17-0, 9 KO’s0 next, and David Price is fighting a rematch with 41-year-old Tony Thompson in July. Whoever it will be, there will always be people that will criticize Haye’s choice of opponent, but many believe that he’s good for the heavyweight division and are glad he’s back.
