Guerrero: Mayweather should get ready for the rematch right now

Robert Guerrero(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 KO’s) has himself in a trance-like state where he can’t even begin to entertain the thought of him getting beaten and clowned by Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0, 26 KO’s) this Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Guerrero sees the win as a sure thing and not only that. He sees Mayweather giving him a nice payday rematch after he loses. It sounds like a pipedream on Guerrero’s part, but if it makes him feel better before he faces his beating on May 4th then so much the better.

Guerrero said “I’m going to go in there and beat him down on May 4th. He should just worry about getting ready for the rematch at this point. Be ready to be shocked.”

For Guerrero to get the really big money, he needs a rematch with Mayweather because the money he’s getting this time isn’t the big, big money. That cash comes if Guerrero defeats Mayweather somehow.

It’s difficult to imagine Guerrero giving Mayweather any kind of beating without the scenario where Guerrero is holding Mayweather’s head with one hand while nailing him with his free hand. If Guerrero can do to Mayweather what he did to Andre Berto with his fast & sure holding and hitting, then I can see Guerrero beating Mayweather down. But in a straight up right without the normal rules of boxing, Guerrero is going to get schooled. Even if Mayweather is down to 60% of what he once was, that’s 50% more than what he needs to beat Guerrero because the talent difference between the two of them are astronomical.

Mayweather has been saying that he’s trained harder during this training camp than he ever has before. If I was Mayweather’s dad and/or uncle Roger Mayweather, I would have told him not to push himself so hard for the camp because he doesn’t need to do any more than what he’s done in the past in order to beat Guerrero. There’s no point in Mayweather over-training for a fight that he can easily win. The only thing Mayweather needs is good cardio, and the rest is his. He beats Guerrero and makes him look silly in this fight without all the extra training.
