froch#7By Matty Buckland: Carl Froch v Mikkel Kessler on May 25th has got to be the most anticipated fight in this years boxing calendar. Both fighters are hugely respected around the boxing world and are equally as entertaining to watch. Froch and Kessler both bring something exciting to the ring, whether it is Froch’s heart and desire to succeed no matter what the cost or Kessler’s great skill and experience.

The first fight between the pair was a barn stormer! I am a huge fan of both Froch and Kessler and felt that Kessler just nudged the decision in there first titanic battle even though it was a closely fought contest but felt Kessler’s natural skills prevailed through.

The rematch though is going to be hard to call. Has Kessler started to decline? Possibly. Has Froch improved with age? A bigger possibility. Given than Froch will be fighting in England and has a new lease of life I feel Froch may just edge this although I would never write Kessler off. Mikkel Kessler will go down as an all time great and whether he wins or not I would like to see him fight Andre Ward again. In my opinion Kessler got a raw deal against Andre Ward and felt Ward should have been disqualified for the head butts.

I am not taking anything away from the gifted and talented Ward but in mine and a lot of other people’s views he totally opened up Kessler’s face with the continuous head butting. Whoever wins in this epic second encounter should go on to face Ward, which would hopefully be in Europe and I feel both fighters would give Ward a better fight 2nd time around. May the 25th should be a must for all true boxing fans. I for one cannot wait for the second encounter and hope it lives up to expectations. I’m sure both warriors won’t fail to disappoint.
