Deontay Wilder: Audley Harrison will be my next meal on April 27th

wilder23By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight talent Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) says he’s hungry to accomplish a lot in the heavyweight division and snatch his first world title. Standing in the way of the 6’7” Wilder from accomplishing his goals is the 6’6” British heavyweight Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KO’s) and Wilder intends on knocking him out of the way on April 27th in their fight at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

Wilder said to Sky Sports “I’m a starving lion that’s ready to eat. On April 27 in Sheffield, England my next meal will be served; on the menu: Audley Harrison…Bon appetite…I can’t wait to show you guys why I am the light and the way for this dark division.”

It’s too bad that it’s Wilder that will be the one that puts the 41-year-old Audley out of his misery once and for all because I had hoped it would be someone else but what can you do.

If Audley is willing to take the fight then there’s no other choice for Wilder but to finish off the old lion in front of his own fans. The only positive out there for Audley is that his fans will see him get it and I’m sure that will make him at least a little happy.

Wilder has pretty much every advantage you can think of having for this fight – power, speed, size, agility, skills, youth and jab. The only thing Wilder doesn’t have is the left hand that Audley has. Although Wilder does have a great left hook, he still hasn’t been able to develop this weapon to the point where he’s able to throw it as hard as Audley’s left hand. I mean, I think it’s almost as hard as Audley’s and it’s definitely much faster but it’s not quite there yet.

Also, Wilder also doesn’t use his left hand nearly as much as he should. He’s too dialed into throwing his right hands because no one can take his power. We did see Wilder use his left hook recently against Kelvin Price when he was able to hurt him with three fast left hooks to the head while they were standing in close, but Wilder didn’t use his left hook in his last fight against the capable Matthew Greer last January. He was strictly using his right hand and Greer wasn’t taking it too well as we saw with him getting blasted out in 2 rounds.
