Unfortunately for Canelo, Floyd Jr is not keen on facing him mainly because Canelo is now a big threat to Floyd. This was already expected by boxing analysts and sports fans around the world as we know Floyd won’t face any threat to his “0” record and Canelo is one of them. After dealing Trout his first loss in his career, Canelo proved that he is no joke and that he is at the elite level. Floyd cannot put his contract in Showtime in jeopardy if he will face Alvarez at this time knowing it will be a sure loss for him. Saul is a hungry lion, young but already in his prime, strong, with fast hands and good defense, qualities not found on Floyd’s opponents in his last 7 fights. Baldomir has already 9 losses before he faced Floyd, Dela Hoya, Cotto and Mosley were past their prime, Hatton was bloated just like Marquez and Ortiz. Clearly, there were no risks to Floyd on those names.

Saul Alvarez was clearly a dangerous opponent to Floyd and we all expect Floyd to pick easy challenges than real threats that could give him his first loss. Floyd ducked Pacquiao and will surely avoid Alvarez. Sergio Martinez is already off Floyd’s radar as what he had said lately that Maravilla was too big for him. We can expect Floyd to use the same excuse in facing Canelo despite having fought Cotto at 154 lbs. If washed up and past his prime Miguel Cotto was able to gave Floyd problems and even busted his nose, what more if it will be a prime Canelo?

Floyd surely knows his business, easy fights for easy money, and that has been his guiding principle and we can’t do anything about it. Pacquiao, Martinez, Alvarez and other threats are off Floyd’s list of possible opponents. Expect other names for Floyd’s next bouts, cherry picking at its best.
