Twani-Hilongwa on 3/29 in Namibia

One of the unheralded stars of Namibian boxing is Joseph ‘Smokey’ Hilongwa. A former Olympian and former Namibian National Flyweight champion, the unbeaten Hilongwa currently holds the WBA African title.

While ‘Smokey’ could and should have had other fights and opportunities in the past, his impressive record currently stands at 11 fights with all victories, five of them coming inside the distance.

On March 29 at the Windhoek Country Club Resort in Windhoek, Namibia, he will take on Sibusiso Twani for the vacant World Boxing Federation Intercontinental Super Flyweight title.

Moving up a weight class, Hilongwa has his eyes on current WBF world champion Juan ‘Goofy’ Montes of Mexico, and longs to be another world champion in the boxing crazy country of Namibia.

In his way stands a much underrated but hugely capable fighter in South African, Sibusiso Twani, who has only lost twice in ten outings (7-2-1) and who has gone the distance with the # 2 fighter in the world, Hekkie Budler.

Twani sees this equally as an opportunity for greater things and is certainly coming to fight on this Warrior’s Promotions bill.

WBF President Howard Goldberg, who has been dealing with this fight, commented on the professionalism thus far from Warrior’s Promotions and what a pleasure it has been to work with them.
