The Hayemaker returns

haye125By Dan Henderson: David Haye officially announced yesterday that he would be making a return to boxing in attempt to secure a mandatory fight with either Wladimir or Vitali Klitsckho. Speaking at his press conference yesterday Haye explained his reasons why:

“I want that heavyweight title back. I was hoping Vitali would be a man of his word and fight me after I did what he and his team wanted me to do and beat Dereck Chisora.

“We have been sitting around, waiting for the phone to ring but that hasn’t happened. We have sent some e-mails but they have fallen on deaf ears.

“Instead of sitting around and waiting another year I want to get back in there. I’m happy to be back – a year is long enough time to wait for someone to phone you.”

David announced he would be fighting in June at Manchester Arena but no opponent has been selected but we were assured it would be someone highly ranked and that plans on following up that fight with another bout in October also against a highly ranked opponent. I’m glad that Haye is returning to the ring as he will breath some life in to a dull division and he is Britain’s best heavyweight but if he does secure another title shot against one of the Klitsckho’s he will have to be brutal against his two unnamed opponents for the boxing public to take him seriously because of his shambolic performance against Wladimir.

I know people will always refer back to the bad performance and the ‘toe’ incident but currently he still one of the best heavyweights and with the power he possesses along with the speed he will always have a good shout of winning plus he was the undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world.

Who will he face? I’m not sure but hopefully it will be against stern opposition and that he performs well so we can see him avenge his loss or at the very least push Klitsckho close.
