Rios did a great job of interrupting Alvarado’s post-fight interview with Kellerman

rios84By Dan Ambrose: Brandon Rios (31-1-1, 23 KO’s) may have lost the fight last night and fought less than a smart fight in losing by a 12 round unanimous decision to Mike Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO’s) in Las Vegas, Nevada, but you can’t say Rios didn’t do a great job of interrupting and taking over Alvarado’s post fight interview with HBO’s Max Kellerman.

Rios did a great job of cutting into the interview, and stepping all over Alvarado in his moment of glory.

While Alvarado was trying to give his comments to Kellerman post-fight, Rios rushed forward and said “I gave you [Alvarado] a rematch.”

Alvarado then tried to calm Rios down by saying “I don’t mind giving you a rematch.”

Rios didn’t seem to be hearing that Alvarado said, as he continued to talk, saying “Number 3, number 3. I got the last one, you got this one. We got to do it again, baby. We got to do it again. You know why? We’re both warriors! We’ll do it again, baby, we’ll do it again; number 3, baby. Bob Arum, where is Bob Arum. [now speaking to Alvarado again and letting him continue his interview with Kellerman]. Talk, talk, talk.”

Alvarado then said “Brandon gave me a shot, so I’ll give him a shot at a trilogy. It’s up to our promoter Bob Arum. So we’ll see what happens.”

Rios then starts again: “I won the first one; he won the second one, so we got to do a third one. He won the second one, so the third one we got to take it back home, baby. Respect. respect. I’ll go to your city. I’m not scared of you. You know how I roll. Like I said, I’ll go to your city.”

Kellerman says to Rios: “He [Alvarado] seemed to hurt you. He seemed to rock you a couple of times.”

An animated Rios then answered back: “Max, your eyes are deceiving, your eyes are deceiving, Max. He didn’t rock me at all. We’re warriors. If I had been rocked I would have been like that [Rios then pretends that he’s hurt to show Kellerman how he would have looked had he actually been hurt]. We’re warriors. So, Max, you’ve got to go check your eyeballs. I can go another 15 more rounds, sh**! I’m a warrior. I love to fight. F*** that, we’ve got to do it again. [At this point Rios snatches the microphone out of Kellerman’s hand without asking for it]. Fans, do you guys want to see fight number 3? I’ll go to your hometown.”

The way that Rios interrupted Alvarado’s interview with Kellerman reminded me a lot of how Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s VMA acceptance speech in 2009.
