mayweather500By Scott Gilfoid: The Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero fight will be reportedly televised on BoxNation on May 4th, according to the Dailysport.co.uk. This is a big a deal because it could help increase subscribers at a time where Frank Warren has lost two of his biggest fighters in George Groves and Ricky Burns.

Warren expects the subscriber numbers to get back up over 200,000. The Mayweather-Guerrero fight could help in a big way.

Anmir Khan’s fight against Julio Diaz scheduled for April 27th will a shown as well. That fight will be taking place at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom, and it’ll be Khan’s first fight in the UK in three years since his mismatch against Paul McCloskey in 2010. That was a god awful fight if I do say so, and I can only hope the Diaz-Khan fight isn’t as bad. Say what you want about how poor of an opponent McCloskey was, he at least was a ranked opponent, which is more than what you can say about Diaz.

For Khan, this is his second straight fight against a 2nd tier fighter, and his promoter Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions expects Khan to fight the winner of a four-fighter tournament between Zab Judah vs. Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse vs. Lamont Peterson. The winners of those two fights face each other in an elimination bout to get to Khan.

The good news for Khan is he doesn’t have to get his hands dirty having to two dangerous fighters to get to the final. The bad news is the guy that he winds up facing is going to be someone really good like Matthysse or Garcia. It won’t matter that Khan didn’t fight any of the hard fights because he’ll have pure trouble on his hands against Matthysse or Garcia.

With Warren able to show fighters from all over the world on his BoxNation, it makes him less dependent on having his own stable of fighters for shows because he can televise the best fighters from other parts of the world.

The Guerrero-Mayweather match-up is going to be a great fight, and it should interest a lot of boxing fans even though there are better fights out there for Mayweather.
