Guerrero: I won’t be denied of my victory against Mayweather

guerrero232By Dan Ambrose: WBC interim welterweight champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 KO’s) feels it’s his destiny to defeat the 36-year-old Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0, 26 KO’s) on May 4th on Showtime/CBS.

Guerrero said to Yahoo “It’s going down and I won’t be denied on May 4th.”

I wonder if Guerrero felt the same when he was beaten by Orlando Salido in the past. I have a feeling that he will be denied victory on May 4th when him and Mayweather square off, but I just hope Guerrero isn’t one of those guys that denies the reality of what happened to him.

I can’t stand it when a fighter that has been bragging as much as Guerrero has been doing can’t give credit to the other fighter when they fail to produce on fight night. That ruins it because then you’ve got to hear all the garbage about how they were robbed, how the people believe he should have won, or how he had an injury that he failed to disclose in the weeks of the fight.

I pray that Guerrero isn’t one of those types because if he gets beaten he’s going to have recognized that it wasn’t his destiny to beat Mayweather this time. Maybe if they fight again in two or three years when Mayweather is a little closer to 40, Guerrero could possibly win under those circumstances, but not on May 4th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The sad part about this fight is that the only way that Guerrero can win the fight is if Mayweather is shot enough for Guerrero to win. A prime Mayweather would likely embarrass Guerrero, and I suspect that Guerrero feels the same way. Mayweather has to be a shot fighter for Guerrero to get the win because if Mayweather still has 75% of what he once had, Guerrero loses badly.
