fury222By Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham (25-5, 12 KO’s) had unbeaten 6’9” Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) worked up and hopping mad after he called him “garbage” at their press conference earlier today to hype their April 20th fight at the Madison Square Garden Theater, in New York, New York, USA.

Cunningham was pretty nice to Fury when he initially spoke, but Fury went for the throat immediately when it was his time to speak, talking about wanting to retire Cunningham come April 20th. When Cunningham merely pointed out that the only reason that Fury is having success is because his huge, Fury went ballistic, standing up and drowning out everything that Cunningham and his trainer Naazim Richardson.

It stopped being a back and forth discussion at that point, and instead it was just one long rant from the angry Fury. It shocking to see how angry Fury became merely because Cunningham pointed out his opinion of the British fighter.

Cunningham: “The only reason he’s winning fights is because he’s big. If you shrunk him down to 6’2”, he’s garbage. He only wins fights because he’s big. I’ve trained with the Klitschkos, and they’d be successful even if they were 6’2” because they work hard.

Fury: “I’m on a mission and I’m going to retire you. Your heavyweight run is about to end. I’m just wondering if the bottom of your shoes has a sponsor. I’m the best fighter on the planet. Come April 20th, this guy is getting knocked the spark out. You’re not a heavyweight, and I am. I’m going to hurt you. I man business. I’ll beat anyone on the planet. Wladimir Klitschko is the biggest B****. He won’t even fight me. You aren’t on the same level as Kevin Johnson, and you’re chinny.”

Cunningham: “Why does the greatest heavyweight on the planet want to fight a guy like me if I’m not a heavyweight?”

I must say I totally agree with Mr. Cunningham. Can you imagine what Fury would be like if he were only 6’2″.” Without any power to speak of, Fury would be slapping heavyweights with much more power and he wouldn’t have the reach or the size to get away from the shots. My guess if Fury wouldn’t even be a good domestic level heavyweight.
