By Dan Ambrose: WBO lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) doesn’t think too much of WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi’s skills or power, and he sees him as an easy victory when the two meet up on June 22nd on Showtime at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.
Broner, who still refers to himself as “Mr. HBO” despite the fact that his fights will be televised on Showtime now due to Golden Boy Promotions fighters being frozen out by HBO, said to ARBeatGang “I’ve got this fight coming up with Paulette. I call him Paulette the Magic Chick. He’s going to let me feel his power. What’s the f*** up in that sentence. Paulette, who you going to stop? Who gonna slap asleep? What you got, seven knockouts? Really. He says he’s going to let me feel his power. When was the last time you had a knockout? You’ve got to be deaf, stupid, retarded and dumb because you can’t even hear what you’re saying out of your mouth to believe it…I’m not just going to abuse you, I’m going to knock you put…she’s been stopped a few times. It’s like a chick on the corner. She’s been stopped a few times, played with, and put back on the corner. And someone just gave him a title. Now I’m going to take your title and put you back on the corner. I ain’t paying you either.”
I don’t think Malignaggi knows what he got himself into when he agreed to take this fight because he’s going to be trash talked to death by the time he does get in the ring with Broner on June 22nd in Brooklyn.
Broner looks like he’s going for the throat by refereeing constantly to Malignaggi as a she rather than a he, and calling him Paulette instead of Paulie. You can only imagine how this is going to sound like in each interview and then press conference as the fight draws nearer.
