By Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (29-0, 12 KO’s) truly believes he’s the best fighter in the 147 pound division bar none, and he feels he’s going to show that when he takes on 140 lb. contender Ruslan Provodnikov (22-1, 15 KO’s) on Saturday night at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California, USA.

Bradley said to Radio Raheem “Some people may not believe it [that Bradley is the best fighter in the welterweight division], but I’m going to show it on Saturday night…I was the first to beat him [Manny Pacquiao]. Pacquiao was damaged goods [for Juan Manuel Marquez last December]…I’m going to prove on Saturday night that Ruslan Provodnikov doesn’t belong in the same ring with me. People haven’t seen enough of Tim Bradley. More and more they see me in the ring dissecting these fighters, breaking them down. They’re going to gravitate towards me, and they’re going to love me.”

The question that you have to ask Bradley is why fight a light welterweight like Provodnikov if he considers himself the best fighter in the welterweight division? Shouldn’t Bradley be at least fighting welterweights and fight on a regular basis?

It just looks like Bradley, or his promoters at Top Rank, cherry picked a smaller light welterweight that had already been exposed in the past, and are using him to make Bradley look better than he actually is.

It’s hard to imagine boxing fans loving Bradley because he moves too much, lacks power and has a nasty habit of charging forward with his head lowered like a little billy goat. That style, along with all the clinching that Bradley does, is extremely ugly to watch. He’s not going to be able to win fans over until he changes his style and starts fighting quality welterweight competition instead of light welterweights like Provodnikov.
