harrison323By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweight Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KO’s) has accepted a fight with the talented 6’7” knockout artist Deontay “The Bronze bomber” Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) on April 27th at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

This fight will be on Amir Khan – Julio Diaz undercard. It looks like Wilder’s promoters at Golden Boy Promotions wanted a token Brit to make it an interesting fight for the locals, so Harrison was given the offer.

It’s too bad Tyson Fury wasn’t free because you can bet Golden Boy would have attempted to drag him into the ring to take the fight.

Harrison said on his twitter today: “I have AGREED to take the fight [with Wilder] with 5 weeks’ notice. We’re close. Hopefully we get there on all details.”

Oh man, it’s on now. Harrison is going to be in a world of hurt, and I just don’t see him lasting more than a round against the heavyweight division’s hardest puncher Deontay Wilder.

This is going to be good because like I said previous articles, there are some of Harrison’s loyal fans that have been spreading nasty rumors about Harrison having knocked Wilder down in sparring last year when Wilder helped Harrison prepare for his fight against David Price.

I don’t buy rumors like that, but at least now Wilder can show you what it’s like when it’s the real thing and not him working as a temporary employee of Harrison for the sparring sessions.

Knowing how kind Wilder is, he probably was taking it easy on Harrison by fighting at less than 50% of his potential so he wouldn’t mess up his sparring gig. We all know what happens to sparring partners that make their employers look bad. They get canned.

It’s good that Harrison is coming into the fight with some momentum from having won the Prizefighter tournament last month. At least now Harrison won’t be coming into the fight already looking defeated, but it didn’t matter whether he’s confident or not.

Once Wilder starts bouncing big right hands off of Harrison’s chin the fight will be over almost immediately. There won’t be any headgear or big gloves to save Harrison from Wilder’s vicious right hand shots.
