alexander342By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13 KO’s) believes he can siphon off the British fans by beating their hero unbeaten Kell Brook (29-0, 19 KO’s) on May 18th in their fight at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA. Alexander isn’t one of those angry fighters that have issues with the fans of his opponents.

He prefers to win over the fans of his opponents by looking so good in beating them that their fans just naturally come over to him. He’s humble and he doesn’t gloat after he dominates his opponent, and I don’t expect that to change on May 18th when he faces Brook.

Alexander said on his social media site: “To all my UK fans and non UK fans after I beat Kell you will be a fan #Guarantee.”

I agree. They’ll either become a fan of Alexander of they’ll dislike him but give him the respect that he deserves for whipping their guy. The respect is key, and Alexander will get it whether they become his fans or not.

Some may not like him, but they will respect his skills for what he’s going to do to Brook on May 18th in front of millions of fans on television around the world.

Also on the card will be IBF light welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (31-1-1, 16 KO’s) defending his title against Lucas Matthysse (33-2, 31 KO’s) in what could be a really tough fight for both. Peterson is known for having a good chin, and he’s going to need it because Matthysse is a straight up slugger.

This is definitely a 50-50 fight because if Peterson can handle Matthysse’s power, he’s going to give him trouble with his body punching and high work rate. Matthysse is a good fighter but he’s not unbeatable as we’ve already seen in his losses to Zab Judah and Alexander.
