Step up or step aside!

floyd43By Mike Mason: When are these American fighters finally going to step up? With the P4P No1 Floyd Mayweather recently stating he may be facing Devon Alexander on May 4th, whether this is true or just its just to get Robert Guerrero to take less money, the fact still remains the fight we all wanted/want to see Floyd in was Manny Pacquiao. For whatever reason this fight has never materialized, so instead of choosing another big fight like the talented Sergio Martinez, the fans, the paying public who pay these guys wages are supposed to put up with Mayweather taking fights with quitters like Devon Alexander and Victor Ortiz? If Floyd wants to create a legacy he is going to have to take tougher fights than these.

Its not just Mayweather its just how things are in America, take for example the chicken legged hype machine Deontay Wilder, this guy has 27 wins 27 ko’s 0 losses and he still hasn’t fought anybody in the top 100, its plain to see to anybody with a brain, this guy is going to get flattened when he steps in the ring with any of the top European guys. When is he actually going to step up? does he already know he has already found his level and he’s just milking it to make his career last a few more fights? I fear his chicken legs wont hold him up when he gets chinned…hard, by a quality fighter like David Price, Tyson Fury, Kubrat Pulev or Robert Helenius.

It doesn’t matter if he is 50-0(50) if when he steps up he gets knocked out cold, it will just look more of a joke that he was allowed to build his record up by fighting bums. Its crazy how certain reporters sound like they get a wet surprise in their pants when they write about this joker.

Tim Bradley‘s next opponent Ruslan Provodnikov is little more than a 2nd tier level fighter, how can these fighters get away with it? They should be made by the organizations to step up or step aside. For a while now the welterweight class has been the best, a very talented rich division, but you would think with Bradley taking this fight that there is no quality opponents for him to face but this just isnt the case, its just these fighters and their promoters milking the paying public of their hard earned cash.

Adrien Broner is another, he calls out all the big names like the talented Ricky Burns, then ends up fighting little known Gavin Rees. Broner will likely turn up overweight and be far heavier than Rees on the night, why doesn’t Broner just stop boiling down and move up to a more natural weight and fight some of the superstar names? He’s (25-0 21 KO’s) now so he needs to be fighting well known highly ranked fighters, not little known, over-matched fighters.
