marquez4567By Omar Torres: It has recently been reported that Juan Manuel Marquez is passing up on a fifth fight with Manny Pacquiao. If this is in fact Marquez’s final decision, then it’s disappointing as fans would’ve loved to see these two living legends square off once again.

Marquez has reportedly said that he has proven his point with Pacman and there is no need to fight him a fifth time as the business has been settled. So that opens up some questions as far as where both Pacquiao and Marquez go from here if a fifth fight doesn’t happen. Marquez seems to be leaning towards retirement soon and I think he at least has one more meaningful fight left in him, and that is to avenge his loss against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

It’s up in the air at this point as far as Mayweather willing to give Marquez a second shot at him. This fight would sell and it would be a more competitive fight this time around now that Marquez has adjusted to the weight class. I don’t really see Marquez being interested in fighting anyone else other than the P4P king Mayweather. Even though Pacquiao got KO’d by Marquez and has lost two of his last three fights, he is still one of the most popular boxers and will still rack up a lot of money in his bouts and that makes him an appealing fighter to box if your a boxer.

Manny has a few meaningful options left in his career at this point. One would obviously be to finally face Mayweather Jr. and finally put to rest of who is the better fighter, but for years now both camps haven’t agreed to terms with each other and it remains to be seen if it will ever happen.

Second option for Pacquiao would be to avenge his controversial loss to Timothy Bradley. In my opinion I think Pacquiao totally school Bradley in that fight and won, but a loss is a loss and I think he needs to beat Bradley and take back what’s his. It’s disappointing to know that Pacquiao-Marquez5 might not happen. When these two guys square off they never fail to put on a good competitive show. The Pacquiao-Marquez rivalry will go down as one of the best in boxing history. If Marquez was to retire today he will retire on top, Manny will have to do the same and retire on top by defeat his next opponents.
