Kessler: I’m ready to beat Froch again; he’s in trouble

kessler34545By Scott Gilfoid: WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KO’s) is ready to beat IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KO’s) for a second final time when they face each other in a rematch on May 25th at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Kessler knows he’s got the better boxing skills and talent, so he’s just going to repeat the beating that he gave to Froch three years ago in Hern, Denmark in April, 2010. Froch has been bellyaching for ages about wanting a rematch with Kessler specifically in the UK, and Kessler was class enough to give Froch his wish by saying yes to the fight in the UK, as if it really matters where the fight takes place.

If Kessler fights like he did three years ago, it won’t matter that it’s taking place in England because Kessler will still win or look good enough to where boxing fans won’t respect a decision given to Froch. Fans will invalidate any decision given to Froch if he appears to lose and is given a decision by the judges in his home country.

Kessler said to Sky Sports “I promised Carl a rematch and here I am, ready to come to England and beat him again. The Viking Warrior is ready for war and the Cobra is going down. Add to that my Danish fighting spirit, my power and my skills and you know that Froch will be in trouble.”

I actually believe everything Kessler is saying here. The guy is dead serious about wanting to put Froch out of his misery by sending him down for another defeat. What I’m interested in finding out is if Kessler will be able to KO Froch this time. We saw Kessler stagger Froch last time when they were going toe-to-toe, and Kessler appears to be punching harder than he did back then.

Kessler is sitting down on his shots a lot more, and his left hook has become a real weapon for him. Froch can punch hard too, but he’s not the puncher that Kessler is. There’s a huge difference between the two of them in terms of power, speed, jab and boxing ability.

Kessler has a big edge in all of those categories. The only thing Kessler won’t have in this fight is the hometown advantage. That category will go to Froch, but like I said it won’t matter because if the judges given it to the wrong fighter then boxing fans will simply ignore the decision and consider the other guy the real winner.
