By Naheem Yacub: Adil “Platinum KID” Anwar, despite being messed around at Echo Arena especially after David Price lost, prevailed as the ref stopped the contest in the 6th round due to a really bad cut Adil gave his opponent Lance Sheehan to his left eye. This resulted in the decision being given in Adils favour, thus bringing back the Light-welter Weight British Masters Title back to Leeds.

After warming up twice and being told there is someone else on before him on 2 seperate occasions, Adil Anwar still went out and put on a brilliant performance. He was sharp, focussed and was obvious he had been training hard for this. It seemed like Anwar didn’t even have to come out of 2nd gear in this fight.

Anwar was most certainly in a class of his own when put up against Welsh fighter Lance Sheehan. The fight was stopped in the 6th round due to Sheehan having a cut to his eye, ref said it was a clash of heads, Anwar states otherwise.

How do you think this went?
“After the initial , messing around from the organisers of the show i still went out and did what i had come to do, win.”

In another statement Anwar made it clear that he has his eyes set on on the prestigious British Title, “I have been training extremely hard and i have been told many times i will get a shot at the British Title if i beat my opponent and it has not yet happened, “i have proved my point many times and now i am hungry for a shot at the British TItle, however i have a feeling now i will finally get my chance.”

After a brief look at Anwar’s twitter account it is clear that the British Title holder Darren Hamilton is also now wanting to fight Anwar. Hamiltons Manager Spencer Fearon has asked Anwar to get his Trainer/Manager Mark Bateson to get in touch so this fight can be arranged.

“Its been a long time since the British Title was brought to Leeds, i am looking forward to bringing the British Title back to Leeds and to put our Amazing City back on the Map.” is what Anwar had to say when asked what your looking forward to.
All i’ve got to say about his performance is;

“Adil and Mark Bateson(Trainer) have a fantastic relationship and Mark once again has done a tremendous job by training and preparing Adil for this fight, it was clearly visible from his performance
that the game plan was perfect. Regardless of the commotion behind the scenes and Mark having to warm Adil up twice, Adil still went on to do a great job and bring the British Masters Gold back to Leeds.

Were now hoping to get a date set for Adil to fight Darren Hamilton, the current Light-welter Weight British Champion, so Adil can do what he does best, win and bring the British Title back to Leeds.
Without a doubt his next training camp will be more intense then the last.”
