Delvin Rodriguez destroys Tahdooahnippah
By Jim Dower: In one of ESPN2’s poorer cards, junior middleweight contender Delvin Rodriguez (27-6-3, 15 KO’s) pounded his hapless opponent George “Camanche Boy” Tahdooahnippah (31-1-1, 23 KO’s) at will before the referee Eddie Cotton wisely stepped in to halt the beating at 2:41 of the 6th round on Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Casino, Uncasville, Connecticut, USA.
Rodriguez, 32, was just too good for the previously unbeaten Tahdooahnippah right off the bat, and he gave him a really bad beating in this fight. You can make a strong argument that the fight should have been halted earlier in the fight because Tahdooahnippah was in trouble from the 2nd round and just taking punishment.
The way that Rodriguez beat him you have to wonder about the kinds of fighters Tahdooahnippah beat to pile up that record.
On the undercard, lightweight Chris Howard (15-2-1, 7 KO’s) defeated Bayan Jargal (17-4-3, 10 KO’s) by a 3rd round TKO. That was Jargal’s first stoppage loss of his 7-year pro career, and he’s been in there with a bigger puncher than Howard in Breidis Prescott, but it looked like Jargal wasn’t ready for the shot.
Other boxing results on the card:
Enver Halili UD 4 Antonio Marrero
