rees6By Steven Ocallaghan: Tonight Adrien Broner Defends his title for the first time against tough slugger Gavin Rees. Rees, a former world champ at light welterweight has dropped down to see if he can cut it at 135. Broner is the rising star of US boxing and at only 23 has captured 2 titles at 2 weights. Impressive. This week speaking to former cruiserweight champ Johnny Nelson, Nelson at first had to reprimand Broner to show some respect first, asked him about a potential fight against Burns.

Broner has openly called out Burns, but how serious can we take it. Fighters call out all the time. But the fighters who call out in my mind feel they have a point to prove. Burns admitted he hadn’t trained for the February Broner fight after his domestic clash with Walsh was cancelled, but they are two completely different fights.

I have to question Broner’s request as when pushed by Johnny Nelson about a potential fight in Britain, he replied “if the moneys there”

Broner, at 23 is already a multi-millionaire and if he really wanted to prove he was serious, location and purse should not be an issue.

Tonight in Atlantic City I expect The Problem to have too much for The Rock but i think it will be tougher than many think. But if Burns takes care of Vasquez, which i think he will, Burns v Broner will be a whole different fight.
