khan468By Gibran Samad: All boxing fans know that 2012 was a great year for boxing with many action packed fights and many upset KO’s, one of them being Danny Garcia’s 4th round TKO win over Amir Khan. Amir had a good start for the first couple of rounds, catching Danny with a few blistering combinations and cutting him with the right hand. Amir was using his blazing speed and flurry of punches to get to Danny. He had his speed that night, but not his head movement.

In round 3, Khan was throwing his flash flurry of shots when Garcia threw his dynamite left, catching Khan cold in an exchange. With Amir’s arms flying, he hit the canvass and made it back up. He was clearly still hurt and was saved by the bell. Round 4 came and Garcia was on the hunt, he then dropped Amir about 2 times before referee Kenny Bayless called a stop to the fight. After that night, Danny has been on a roll with 2 KO victories over the legendary Mexican Erik Morales. Amir has then switched trainers and fought Carlos Molina winning by TKO.

After the fight, Khan then called out Garcia, who happened to be attending the fight that night stating: “If I had fought Danny Garcia tonight, I would have knocked him out”. Is this true? All of the commentators for the Khan vs. Molina fight said that Khan is more disciplined and a much better fighter now since he switched trainers.

Honestly speaking, I don’t see a difference in Khan’s fighting style. When he fought Molina he did the same exact thing as always. He moved around and threw 4-5-6 combinations at a time still leaving his head open. If Molina  had more power and was a better classed fighter(no offense to Carlos Molina) he would have caught Khan, knocking Amir out. Even after the fight, Khan stated:”Sometimes I’m too good for my own good” or something relating to that nature.

Final Verdict: If Danny Garcia can get passed Zab Judah on April 27th, he maybe very well getting a rematch against Amir Khan. Khan did his part for the first 2 rounds in their first fight. Throwing fast, blinding combos, cutting Garcia. He needs throw his combos with his head not so high and move after throwing them. Unless Khan can work on better head movement, Danny will catch him with his dynamite left again and we may very well see a repeat of last year. But as Danny recovers from his rib injury and prepares for his fight with Zab and while Khan sit backs and wait for a fight. We can only ask ourselves one question: “Who Would Win?”.
