Adrien Broner and Brandon Rios trade insults

broner452By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA World lightweight champion Brandon Rios (31-0-1, 23 KO’s) decided to shoot a heated tweet to WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) out of the blue earlier today that led to Broner responding on kind with his own truth of what would happen if he ever fought Rios.

Rios said “You won’t do s*** cause I’m not 4 foot. You was the one open your mouth and said my name. F****, come and try and knock this tree down.”

Broner responded with “A homie stop talking that f*** s*** you cool people’s but I will beat the f*** out you, boy. Better worry about your next fight!”

Man, it’s too bad this fight will never happen while Broner and Rios are with different promotional companies. I don’t see Broner leaving Golden Boy Promotions at any point in the future, so if the fights ever going to happen then there’s either going to need to be a thaw between Golden Boy and Top Rank or Rios will have to wait until his contract with Top Rank has expired before a bout between them can happen.

The problem with that is Rios will likely have been exposed by somebody be it Manny Pacquiao or whoever, whereas Broner appears to be unstoppable right now, and he’s not going to get beaten by anybody.

This is the best time for this fight to happen because Broner and Rios are going different directions. Broner is shooting to the top while Rios just seems to be treading water being matched against fellow Top Rank fighter Mike Alvarado over and over again if for no other reason that Top Rank doesn’t have anyone for him to fight other than this guy repeatedly.

Broner would beat Rios if the fight was to happen, but it’s not going to under the current climate. The right really won’t get made if Broner takes over as boxing’s #1 pay-per-view star because the purse splits between him and Rios would be far too lopsided in Broner’s favor for the fight to ever get made even if Rios does leave Top Rank.

Rios has yet another fight with Alvarado on March 30th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Hopefully this is the last time Rios and Alvarado fight each other because I don’t know how you can have rematches when Rios clearly knocked Alvarado out. What’s the point in them fighting again?
