Will Judah’s speed and experience be enough to beat Danny Garcia?

judah33By Allan Fox: A lot of boxing fans are writing off 35-year-old Zab Judah (42-7, 29 KO’s) as having no chance against WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (25-0, 16 KO’s) in their fight on February 9th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. However, Judah will have a big speed and experience against over Garcia in this fight, and that might be enough for him to shock the world and pull off an upset.

Judah’s speed advantage is going to be substantial in this fight. He’s not just a little faster than Garcia, he’s a lot faster. Judah’s speed isn’t at the level of Amir Khan, but it’s close enough to cause Garcia some problems.

The experience advantage for Judah is going to be his best weapon because he’s already seen Garcia’s fighting style many times of the years and he knows how to beat those kinds of fighters, he claims. We’ll see if he can but he says he’s very familiar with Garcia’s style of fighting.

There are still a lot of unknowns about Garcia right now because he’s only really beaten three good fighters – Kendall Holt, Amir Khan and Erik Morales – and he didn’t look good against Holt. Garcia has got that great left hook that he likes to use, but he uses it way too much and he doesn’t have other weapons in his arsenal like other fighters do to win. Garcia is kind of like some of the older fighters that had one big punch that they relied on. Those fighters did well until they met someone that knew how to neutralize their weapon, and they’d get beaten. Judah thinks he can stop Garcia’s left hook and beat him.

Judah has failed when he’s stepped it up in the past against guys like Kostya Tszyu, Miguel Cotto, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Joshua Clottey, Amir Khan and Carlos Baldomir. However, those guys are fighters that anyone would lose to and there’s no shame involved. It’s one of those things where those were bad style match-ups for Judah and he couldn’t adapt. But that doesn’t mean Judah won’t be able to figure out Garcia and beat him on February 9th.
