There’s a 90% chance Vitali will fight again, Haye likely opponent

vitali322By William Mackay: According to a source close to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KO’s), there’s a strong chance Vitali will fight again and his likely opponent will be former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye due to the huge money he can generate from the UK pay per view.

The source said to gorodokboxing.com “There is a 90% chance that we will see Vitali in the ring one more time. His opponent could be David Haye, but Haye would have to agree to our terms…I think that he shouldn’t expect any more than 30%. If he agrees to the new deal, than the fight might take place in Germany at one of the indoor stadiums.”

Haye might not like the idea of only getting 30% of the deal but if the fight brings in $25 million that’s a potential $7.5 million for Haye. He’s not going to make that kind of money acting in reality television in the UK, and Haye won’t get that kind of cash fighting British heavyweights Tyson Fury or David Price. Those fights wouldn’t make nearly as much because the Klitschkos have the big RTL money and that makes the difference.

Haye would likely be in a much better position to negotiate right now if he had stayed busy since getting beaten by Vitali’s brother Wladimir Klitschko in June 2011. Haye has fought only once since then, beating domestic level heavyweight Dereck Chisoa by a 5th round stoppage last summer. Without a title to help in the negotiations, Haye is pretty much at the mercy of Vitali and will have to accept whatever he offers.

Either Haye says yes to a good payday that other fighters could only dream of or he goes back into retirement and is never heard of again in the ring. I think the answer is an easy one for Haye. He’ll take the fight and accept the 30% offer gladly.
