Golovkin will look to put Rosado out of his misery early on Saturday

golovkinmedia-11By Dan Ambrose: WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (24-0, 21 KO’s) has been polite with Gabriel Rosado (21-5, 13 KO’s) all week long and showing excellent manners but on Saturday night things are going to change rapidly when Golovkin shows his dark side and looks to obliterate Rosado on HBO at Madison Square Garden in New York. It’s not personal with Golovkin; it’s just business.

Golovkin needs to get Rosado out of there ring quickly in this fight and he can’t afford to let the fight go into later rounds so that Rosado can make it a messy fight.

Rosado is going to probably make it easy for Golovkin by looking to slug with him. That seems to be Rosado’s game plan judging by his comments. He’s been talking about how he’s going to dominate Golovkin and stop him by the 9th round, but that can’t happen unless Rosado takes the fight to Golovkin.

Rosado is going to need a couple of backup plans if he wants to survive and try to win. Right off the bat his plan A is going to fail in this fight. He’s not going to be able to out-slug Golovkin, and I’m surprised he’s wasting time even discussing that scenario. A plan B would be more of a hit and run type strategy, which I don’t think will work either because Golovkin has quick feet and he’ll follow Rosado wherever he goes in the ring, punching him the whole time.

A plan C would be one where Rosado will attempt to get inside and clinch, punch and wrestle for 12 rounds. That has little chance of success because Golovkin is now an even better inside fighter than he is an outside fighter. His trainer Abel Sanchez has really developed Golovkin’s inside skills to where he’s now compared to the likes of Julio Cesar Chavez with his body punching at close range. Rosado isn’t going to be able to compete with that.
