golovkin2By Allan Fox: According to fightnews.com, unbeaten WBA World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (25-0, 22 KO’s) could be fighting #6 IBF Osumanu Adama (20-3, 15 KO’s) next on March 30th in France. This would likely be a fight that won’t be shown on HBO unless they’re willing to deal with the time difference between France and the United States.

Adama, 32, has good power and nice technical boxing skills. He has a 9th round TKO win over Roman Karmazin from October 2011. In his last fight, Adama was beaten by IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale by a 12 round unanimous decision last year in March.

It was a pretty one-sided loss despite two of the judges’ scores showing it as a close fight. Adama has also been beaten by Don George by an 8 round unanimous decision in October 2010, and Dyah Davis by a 6 round decision in August 2008.

If Golovkin takes this fight it would a stay busy fight for Golovkin to keep him sharp while he waits for bigger fights to come his way like a fight against Geale or perhaps Sergio Martinez.

The chances are much higher that Golovkin will get a shot at a unification bout with Geale than Sergio Martinez because Martinez’s promoter Lou Dibella is reportedly cool to the idea of Martinez fighting the dangerous Golovkin.

Golovkin defeated junior middleweight contender Gabriel Rosado by a 7th round stoppage on January 19th of this month in a one-sided beat down by Golovkin. That fight was also a stay busy fight for Golovkin, but he made it interesting by stalking Rosado around the ring and battering him at every opportunity. In other words, whenever Golovkin was able to cut off the ring on Rosado to force him to fight.

Adama will make it interesting for Golovkin because he seems to have only one gear and that’s forward. Golovkin won’t have to go searching for him like he did against Rosado.
