Fury Making a mistake by not taking Price bout

fury453By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) prefers to sit and wait for an eventual title shot this year rather than accepting the big payday fight against David Price (15-0, 13 KO’s) that was offered by Price’s promoter Frank Maloney, who offered Fury 1 million pounds for a fight in the summer. Fury feels he’s worth more than that despite the fact that he’s never faced a 1st tier fighter before.

Fury said on his twitter “Frank Maloney Is at his bull**** again offering 1million pounds! He must think r skint my watch is $268000! Dream on little man & come c us when u can afford me. Remember your talking to Tyson2FastFury!!! Audley Harrison apparently earned 1.5 mill for fighting Haye?! got to be worth more than that?”

This move could come back and bite Fury in the backside this year when he either fights for the WBC title or in a WBC title eliminator bout and gets beaten for less money. I can’t see Fury getting 1 million pounds for a fight against the Klitschkos and he certainly won’t get that for an eliminator bout. I can see Fury getting exposed in both fights in getting knocked out badly. A loss for Fury will leave him wishing he’d have taken the big payday fight against Price.

There are some boxing fans who think the reason why Fury keeps turning down fight against Price is because he’s running scared and doesn’t want to get shown up in front of the entire UK boxing fan base. My thoughts are that Fury might as well fight Price and get it over with because he’s going to get beaten eventually anyway when he steps it up, so it might as well at least be by someone from his own country than someone from another part of the world.

Let’s put it this way, would Fury prefer to get knocked cold by Price or someone like American Deontay Wilder? My guess is Fury would rather it be Price that knocks him the spark out. Besides that, he’ll get a lot more money for the fight with Price than he would against Wilder because a fight with Wilder would be taking place in the U.S rather than England.
