Froch talking bold about Stevenson just when he’s about to fight Kessler

froch257By Scott Gilfoid: You got to love the timing for IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch to start opening his yap about his #1 IBF mandatory challenger Adonis Stevenson (19-1, 16 KO’s) after Stevenson said he was okay with coming over the UK and beating Froch in front of his own British fans in Nottingham.

Froch then got up in arms about it and talking bold about how he’d easily take care of the hard hitting Stevenson. But what’s interesting is the timing for all of Froch’s crowing. His promoter Eddie Hearn is wrapping up a fight with Mikkel Kessler, so there’s really pretty much zero chance of Froch fighting Stevenson.

Froch had this to say about Stevenson at livefight.com “Well a tiger does not lose sleep over the opinion of a sheep – and trust me, Adonis will be a lamb to the slaughter…if he comes to fight then he will be blitzed in a handful of rounds…he would get smoked. End of story.”

I think Froch’s victories over Lucian Bute and Yusaf Mack has given him a sense omnipotence because he’s talking like he can walk on water now. Froch has got some ideas planted in his head from those victories, and he’s not sounding like he’s on level ground.

Believe me, Stevenson would be a very, very dangerous fight for the likes of Froch because of his huge punching power, fast hands and superb jab. Stevenson great physical tools and his time with legendary trainer Emanuel Steward really helped his game in a big way by adding a jab to his arsenal. I think Stevenson is the hardest puncher in the super middleweight division by far, but what makes him so dangerous is his hand speed. When you add in that great speed behind his huge power he has, it makes him hard to beat. I think Froch would get scorched if he fought Stevenson.

The fact that Froch is flapping his gums so strongly about Stevenson now tells me that the Kessler-Froch 2 fight negotiations are about to be wrapped up because I don’t think Froch would be saying stuff like that if he knew he had to face Stevenson next.
