Cleverly vs. Krasniqi: Nathan will struggle in this fight and look horrible – prediction

cleverly2334By Scott Gilfoid: I’ve been researching the obscure fighter #1 WBO Robin Krasniqi (39-2, 15 KO’s) like mad in the last couple of weeks and I’ve come to the conclusion that he’s not a bad fighter, he’s got some skills going for him. I really do think he’s going to present some problems for the 25-year-old Cleverly on March 16th in their fight at a still to be determined venue in the UK.

I don’t think Krasniqi will likely win or anything like that, but I think he’s good enough to make Cleverly look like a clumsy oaf on March 16th. Krasniqi is faster, moves better, looks more athletic, and appears to be a better puncher than Cleverly. The only thing Krasniqi doesn’t have going for him that Cleverly has is in the size department.

Krasniqi looks more like a super middleweight to me than a light heavyweight. He’s got a small build and in his fights against Max Heyman, Serdar Sahin, Hakim Zoulikha and Abdelkahim Derghal, Krasniqi looked like the smaller guy in the ring.

I guess I don’t blame him for not choosing to fight at super middleweight because there are way too many talented fighters at that weight and a fighter like Krasniqi would be lost in that division. He would have to be content with fighting as a contender only because he would likely never win a world title unless it was one of those interim jobs.

Cleverly may be able to wear Krasniqi down if he stalks him around the ring and tries to overwhelm him with punches, but it’s not going to be easy because Krasnqi is a lot faster than the guys that Cleverly has been facing, and he throws his shots with such perfect form. If you look at the way Krasniqi punches, it’s perfect.

I’ve never seen a fighter throw shots with such form. It’s like a textbook when you see Krasniqi throw shots because he puts his body behind the shots and rotates his shoulder in the way you’re supposed to when you throw a punch. He’s able to get a lot of power on his punches because of that, and he’s got that hand speed to go along with it. I think Cleverly is going to struggle against him and really look bad en route to possibly winning a 12 round decision.
