Nothing is confirmed with the fight as of yet, however, so we’ll have to wait and see if it takes place or not.

Dirrell has got the speed, power and defensive ability to make this a very easy fight. Dirrell lost a controversial decision to Carl Froch in the Super Six tournament in a fight that many boxing fans felt Dirrell won. That’s the only loss on Dirrell’s resume, and I personally don’t count it as a loss.

Dirrell has wanted a rematch with Froch ever since then but there’s been no interest from Froch’s end to giving him the shot. I guess I don’t blame Froch, because Dirrell made him look really bad in their fight.

If this fight gets made, Dirrell will have a really tough opponent on his hands. I rate Rowland as a better puncher than Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler. The man can really punch. Rowland, 33, did a number on Librado Andrade last year in April in stopping him in the 4th round. Andrade is a good fighter but Rowland made it look easy in chopping him down. It was like watching Cornelius Bundrage blowing out one of his opponents. Rowland lost his last fight to unbeaten Thomas Oothuizen in a fight that was a lot closer than the final judges scores handed down. I had Oosthuizen winning by a couple of rounds.

Dirrell, 29, is one of the biggest talents in the 168 pound division but he’s fought only once since being fouled in the Super Six tournament by Arthur Abraham in March of 2010. Dirrell stayed out of the ring recovering for a year and half before coming back in December of 2011 and destroying Darryl Cunningham. It was thought then that Dirrell would make a run for one of the titles. Unfortunately, Dirrell chose not to fight during 2012 for whatever reasons but it looks like he’s finally ready to get back in the ring.
