Tyson Fury not impressed with Deontay Wilder’s win over Price

wilder3By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) wasn’t impressed with the performance of American heavyweight knockout artist Deontay Wilder’s 3rd round demolition of Kelvin Price (13-1, 6 KO’s) last night in Los Angeles, California. Fury thinks that his last opponent Kevin Johnson would beat the 27-year-old Wilder, and Fury suggests that Wilder fight unbeaten British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price.

Fury said on his twitter “Just watched Wilder fight! Not impressed at all. He couldn’t beat Kevin Johnson! Very raw and open to big shots! [Wilder has a] Long way to go, [but] big punch. Wilder and [David] Price are the same, untested hype! To be a top fighter you need more than a punch! They have a long way to go. Why not fight each other. [It] would be good.”

Oh brother, Fury sounds like he’s coming from up high with the advice. I hate to be the one to break this to Fury, but Wilder would likely knock Fury out cold in two or three rounds. We’ve already seen Fury get hurt from light hitters. Can you imagine what Wilder would do to a tender-chinned heavyweight like Fury once Wilder lands one of his monster right hands? It would be a sickening knockout of epic proportions.

You there’s so much jealousy and envy out there when it comes to the talented Wilder. The guy just seems to bring out the worst in people because of his special talent. When you’ve a knockout puncher like Wilder, who is going to be a huge superstar in the sport due to his knockout power, it’s hard for people to maintain control.

I don’t think Fury understands boxing. A heavyweight CAN win world titles and dominate just on being a big puncher. Look at Mike Tyson, look at Lennox Lewis, and look Riddick Bowe. All of those guys were big punchers but not the most skilled fighters.

I believe Wilder would knockout both Fury and David Price if and when they fight.

It doesn’t matter that Wilder is a little raw in terms of his boxing skills, because he lands that beautiful right hand of his on the chins of Fury and Price, it would be all over. Those guys would be number 27 and 28 on Wilder’s growing knockout list. Wilder is 26-0 with 26 knockouts and heading for the world record for consecutive knockouts and I could see him beating Fury and Price with ease. It would be a lot like last night with Wilder not looking sensational at first, but once he lands cleanly it’ll be all over.
