By Allan Fox: Former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-2-1, 16 KO’s) will be fighting for the first time in a year a half when he takes on Aleksy Kuziemski (23-4, 7 KO’s) in a scheduled 10 round bout tonight at the Bell Centre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Pascal has been out of action with injuries since losing his World Boxing Council 175 pound title to 47-year-old Bernard Hopkins last year in May.

Also on the card will be middleweight David Lemieux (27-2, 26 KO’s) in a slight step up in competition against Albert Ayrapetyan (20-3, 9 KO’s). Lemieux has been trying to turn his career around after suffering losses to Marco Antonio Rubio and Joachim Alcine last year.

Lemieux has had two easy fights since then and he’s blown then both out in fights that have lasted one and two rounds respectively. However, he’s shown no inclination to learn how to actually fight, and to extend him by working on his conditioning by letting the fights go past one or two rounds.

Lemieux’s stamina probably was exposed against Rubio and Alcine. In both fights Lemieux ran out of gas after the 6th round. Part of the problem for that is he’s had a bad habit of knockout out the poor opposition put in with him in the first couple of rounds so that when he was finally put in with decent opposition he didn’t have the stamina to fight into the second half.

Unbeaten light heavyweight Elieder Alvarez (10-0, 6 KO’s) will be facing Danny McIntosh (13-3, 7 KO’s) in what could be a tough fight for Alvarez. It’s a big step up in class from the guys he’s been facing and it might be too much of a step up for him.

Undefeated super featherweight Logan McGuinness (18-0, 9 KO’s) will be battling Carlos Manuel Reyes (23-1-1. 15 KO’s).
