Image: Pacquiao not looking confident or energetic in training for MarquezBy Chris Williams: You may have already noticed that Manny Pacquiao looks listless, unmotivated and lacking in confidence as he trains for his fourth and possibly his final fight with Juan Manuel Marquez this Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao may not be keeping the late hours that he once did in his life, but he looks haggared and without the fire that you see in Marquez with his training. If you’re a Pacquiao fan you have to be more than a little concerned with how he’s looking, because he looks even worse than he did going into his last fight against Tim Bradley last June.

That was a bad performance by Pacquiao, as he was unable to fight hard for more than 20 seconds of every round and he couldn’t handle the movement from Bradley. Pacquiao fought like an older fighter does by only exerting himself in the last portion of every rounds so he could have that rest break immediately after.

Pacquiao looks like he’s not mentally into this fight. It could be he’s tired of boxing or he’s just tired of fighting Marquez. It’s understandable on both accounts because Pacquiao is fighting Marquez for the fourth time, and it’s like going to the same movie over and over again. After a while it’s not longer interesting. Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank really wanted the Pacquiao-Marquez fight due to the big money it can bring in with pay per view, and he’s even talking about a 5th fight between them next year. I can’t think of a worse way of taking the excitement out of a fighter’s career then to keep matching him up against the same guy repeatedly without mixing in new blood.

Marquez looks like he’s going to beat Pacquiao this Saturday, and I don’t see the judges getting in the way of him winning the fight this time. He looks like he’s ready to dominate Pacquiao and win in a such a convincing manner that the judges will be reduced to mere spectators.
