Froch: I want Kessler in Nottingham

Image: Froch: I want Kessler in Nottingham(PHoto Wende) By Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch watched Mikkel Kessler’s 3rd round annihilation of WBA World super middleweight champion (36-4-1, 25 KO’s) tonight in Herning, Denmark, and he now wants to fight Kessler in his next fight in Nottingham. Froch doesn’t think former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute will want to take the rematch with him in March, so Froch is now looking to get Kessler in the ring for a rematch in Nottingham. Good luck, Froch.

Froch said “The only sensible fight right now is a rematch [with Kessler].”

Froch should think twice about taking that fight because I see Kessler beating Froch even easier than he did in 2010. Froch is going through a state of euphoria right now from his wins over Bute and Yusaf Mack, and he’s going to fighting like a wild man if he takes on Kessler right now.

That kind of primitive approach may work against a fighter like Mack and a less than his best Bute, but it’s not going to fly with Kessler. He’ll take a beating if he faces Kessler, and a loss to Kessler will wipe out Froch’s dream of a rematch with WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward.

What Froch needs to do is forget about Kessler altogether and then go hunt down another Yusaf Mack to fight so that he can keep his International Boxing Federation title for a little while longer. Believe me, if Froch makes the mistake of fighting Kessler next, he’s going to take a royal spanking in that fight. Kessler’s too good for the likes of Froch, especially the Froch that is way too confident for his good. I’d hate to see Froch take a whipping and then start flapping his gums about retiring again. It’s better to avoid that whole ordeal by just looking for another Mack to fight.
