Image: Fights I want to see 2013By Paul Walsh: With the new crop of rising stars emerging and some of the older generation experiencing an Indian summer there is a host of potential super fights possible for 2013.  This article intends to look at the possible blockbuster match-ups.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao- Even in the wake of Manny Pacquiao’s devastating knockout defeat at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez, this still remains the biggest and best fight in boxing.  Both are coming towards the end of their careers which makes it even more crucial for this fight to happen next year.  This is the only match up in boxing which will capture the imagination of the whole world.  It is simply now or never.

Vitali Klitschko vs. David Haye- Still the biggest heavyweight fight out there whether we like it or not.  This would be a fitting way for Vitali to draw the curtain on his glittering career.  The Klitschkos have dominated the heavyweight scene for a number of years and the only name missing for Vitali’s list is great rival David Haye.  Haye has stated a number of times that he will only step in the ring again if it’s against a Klitschko otherwise he is not interested.  So what better way to end both fighters’ careers than a blockbuster match up headlining Vegas and putting heavyweight boxing back on the map?

3.       Andre Ward vs. Carl Froch II- Everyone likes a rematch and wouldn’t it be great to see Super Middleweight King Ward do battle with Froch in a repeat of the super six final?  Froch is enjoying an Indian summer of his career and is getting better with each fight.  If he could manage to get Ward over to the UK I believe it would be a much closer and exciting fight this time round.  Considering the ease in which Ward has dominated the Super Middleweight division, I think he may well relish the challenge.

4.       Adrien Broner vs. Juan Manuel Marquez- Both coming off the back of crushing knockout wins; this could well be the fight of the year.  Mexican warrior Marquez, seemingly ageless, ruthlessly dismantled the great Manny Pacquiao in six rounds in his last outing.  On the back of that display much like Broner, he may have just prized himself out of a fight with anyone else.  Therefore it would make it an obvious match up at lightweight or junior welterweight.

5. Kell Brook vs. Amir Khan- I expect both fighters to win their respective bouts over the coming months making the chances of a domestic dust up a real possibility.  It has been well documented the dislike each man has for one another.  With Kell likely to claim his first world title and Khan looking to step up to welterweight, I would love to see these two square off.  This fight is so huge it could sell out any football stadium in Britain.

So there you have it, the five bouts I would like to see next year.  No doubt many will either agree or disagree with this list.  One things for sure, it will be another exciting year in the sport of boxing.
