Image: Deontay Wilder looking to shine against Kelvin Price on December 15thBy Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) will be looking to show why he’s considered by many to be the top heavyweight prospect in boxing on December 15th in his fight against Kelvin “The Price is Right” Price (13-0, 6 KO’s).

The timing of this fight is perfect for the 6’7″ knockout artist Wilder, because it’s coming just two weeks after the fights of the tall British gargantuan heavyweights Tyson Fury and David Price, so this will give fans a great look at the difference in talent between Wilder and those two heavyweights.

I’m expecting Wilder to show that he’s on a higher level by looking nothing short of spectacular against the equally tall 6’7″ Kelvin Price. Wilder has a much better opponent in there with him than the guys that Fury and Price fought. This Kelvin Price guy is a real talent, and he’s someone that’s good enough to be a top five heavyweight if he had the right set-up with his career. Price spent a lot of years focusing on basketball at the college and professional level. Price turned pro after only one amateur fight, so he’s what you’d call a diamond in the rough. However, I still see him as much better Kevin Johnson and Matt Skelton.

Wilder has been destroying his opposition lately with most of them getting splattered in three rounds or less. It’s a formidable task trying to go the distance against Wilder because he’s so fast and he hits so hard with both hands. He stuns you with a blinding power shot and then finishes you off, if you’re still standing, with his other hand.

This win over Price should get Wilder in the top 15, and that will put him in the position to knock off a few contenders in 2013 and then fight for a world title. I expect Wilder to beat both Price and Fury to a title shot, mainly because he’s not going to slow his career down by fighting the likes of Skelton, Johnson and Dereck Chisora. He’s going after the big names next year.
