wilder23By Scott Gilfoid: The talented unbeaten heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (26-0, 26 KO’s) captured his 26th consecutive knockout tonight in destroying Kelvin Price (13-1, 6 KO’s) in a 3rd round knockout on Saturday night at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California.

After a slow first two rounds where Wilder did very little, he finally unloaded with his first meaningful punch of the fight by tagging the 6’7″ Price with a long right hand that knocked him flat. Price was too hurt to get up and fight was halted right then and there.

Wilder looked pretty nervous in this fight, and he didn’t unload on Price in the 1st round like he normally does on his opponents. Price didn’t help matters by moving around the ring and rushing forward every once in a while in an odd manner. Wilder didn’t look he wanted to let go of his punches just then as he was trying to figure Price out.

In the 2nd round, Price rushed Wilder a few times and was able to land some slapping shots. Other than that, there really wasn’t much action and the Los Angeles crowd started to grow restless and boo.

The boos obviously stung the talented Wilder’s pride because he came out in the 3rd round with a lot more aggression and landed several decent right hands before launching a huge right hand bomb that sent Price down flat on his back.

The shot that Wilder knocked Price out would have knocked heavyweight out in the division. I don’t care who they are, they would have gone down. That’s what makes Wilder so good. He’ll have a period where he’s not looking good and then all of a sudden he’ll connect with one of his bombs and that’s it. His right hand a serious game changer.
