Image: Deontay Wilder and Kelvin Price to fight for vacant WBC Continental Americas title on Saturday, 12/15By Scott Gilfoid: This Saturday’s fight between powerful unbeaten heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) and Kelvin Price (13-0, 6 KO’s) just got a little bit more meaningful now that the two huge 6’7” heavyweights will be fighting for the vacant WBC Continental Americas title at the Sports Area in Los Angeles, California.

The two big heavyweights were just going to be fighting in a simple 10 round fight with nothing on the line other than pride, but now that this title is up for grabs in the fight it just got little more interesting because it’ll be the 27-year-old Wilder’s first attempt at grabbing a heavyweight strap in his still young four year pro career.

Wilder said on his twitter “Thanks Showtime Sports for this opportunity to display my talent and big love to Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions for this surprise to fight for the WBC Continental Americas title. It’s mine. I got this.”

Wilder is one of the most talented young heavyweights in the game, and he’s going to show boxing fans why he’s go heavily hyped when he puts on a power punching display on Saturday in a fight that will be televised by Showtime.

I just hope Wilder doesn’t get too eager because he’s got a defensive artist facing him in this fight in Price, and this guy is very hard to hit. Defensively, Price reminds me a taller version of Roy Jones Jr. because he fights a lot like him when he’s defending. Price’s offense isn’t that great obviously, but he’s got respectable power. Wilder will have to get this guy out of there early because he’ll make Wilder look bad if the fight goes into the second half of the fight.

Once Wilder connects cleanly with his right hand the first time I expect the fight to be over, because he’s the biggest puncher in the heavyweight division.
