But Wach has more than enough power to pull off an upset if he doesn’t make the same mistake as Wladimir’s last two opponents did by fighting too cautiously and giving him too much respect.

That’s not how you beat the 6’6″ Wladimir. If you look at Wladimir’s three prior losses on his resume it’s always been a case of his opponents – Ross Puritty, Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster – fighting with aggression and taking the fight to him. They got Wladimir’s respect early on and then were able to land big shots to take him out. Wach, 32, has to set the tone for the fight early on in the 1st round to make Wladimir understand that he’s in a fight and not just beating up on a frightened opponent.

This very well may be Wach’s only shot at a world title because there are quite a few arguably more talented fighters working their way up the rankings and they will be too good for a fighter like Wach to be able to beat. This is why Wach has to make the most of his opportunity tonight against Wladimir because this may be the only chance he gets for a big payday. You couldn’t pick a more perfect fighter for Wach to be facing than Wladimir because the Ukrainian has a weak chin as we’ve seen in the past and Wach has a rival of a right hand that can put Wladimir away with a single shot.

Wach is really hitting his prime right now after looking so-so in the early part of his career. In his last seven fights Wach has knocked out all of his opposition and shown quite a bit of improvement. He’s showing a lot of power and surprisingly good speed. Wach cuts off the ring a lot better than he did earlier in his career and is able to deliver his right bombs with pinpoint accuracy.

Tonight’s fight comes down to whether Wach can land his right hand early to get Wladimir’s attention. If Wach can get Wladimir backing up he could pull of an upset because Wladimir doesn’t fight well going backwards. When Wladimir is scared he’s a much more beatable fighter and doesn’t sit down on his punches. This will allow to stick around long enough in the fight for him to connect with one of his big right hands and take Wladimir out of there.
