Image: Mack: Froch had his time. It's my time nowBy Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) may be talking about fighting to his 40th birthday, but American Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) is ready to kick his duff off the hill and take over as the IBF champion on Saturday night in their meeting in Nottingham. Mack figures that Froch is ready to picked off and he feels he’s just the man to do the job on him.

Mack said to thesun.co.uk “Froch has had his time, he had his world title shot. Now it’s my time.”

I agree. Froch had his time and is now 35, and in the position after a lot of grueling fights to where he’s vulnerable. Mack could be the guy to do it. That’s not to say that he will, but it’s possible. Mack is a little younger than Froch at 32, and he doesn’t have a lot of hard miles on him. Mack hasn’t had to go through the Super Six tournament like Froch and take all the punishment that Froch had to in fights against Andre Dirrell, Andre Ward, Arthur Abraham and Glen Johnson. Those were all hard fights for Froch, the type that take a lot out of a fighter.

Mack is ready for his moment in the sun. If he smacks Froch around tonight, he’s going to capture his International Boxing Federation strap and pretty much guarantee himself a nice payday in a rematch with Froch. I could see Mack doing quite nicely in a second fight with Froch, especially if it takes place in Nottingham.

Mack could get a piece of the gate and get some good green stuff. All Mack has to do is make he knocks Froch out because I think the chances are extremely remote that Mack will be given a decision over Froch in Nottingham. If Dirrell couldn’t get a decision after dominating Froch for 12 rounds in 2009, I definitely don’t see Mack walking out of there with a decision win unless he really beats him badly with plenty of knockdowns.
