Image: Johnson expects to give Fury a beating on December 1stBy Sean McDaniel Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson (28-2-1, 13 KO’s) likes his chances against the 24-year-old unbeaten heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KO’s) on December 1st at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Johnson, 33, sees Fury an inexperienced fighter with plenty of holes in his game that he can exploit with his power and his hard jabs. Johnson sees himself beating Fury so badly that he ends up retiring from the sport.

Johnson said to Fightnews.com “I have the tools to beat Fury, no doubt. I’ll beat Fury so bad he’ll want to retire…Fury’s not in my class.”

Had this fight taken place back in 2009 before Johnson’s defeat at the hands of WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko then Johnson would have a lot more believers that he could accomplish those goals. But Johnson looked really poor in losing to Vitali by a 12 round decision. Johnson then took close to 11 months off from boxing following the loss to Vitali, and he’s been facing nothing but 2nd tier opposition ever since. He’s not looked as good as he did prior to the Vitali fight, and he’s coming off of a defeat to Tor Hamer in the Prizefighter tourney.

If Johnson fights like he did in the Prizefighter tourney he’s going to have problems against Fury because he didn’t look at all powerful against the less than impressive opposition and his jab seemed to be the only thing that he had going for him.

Fury, #3 WBC, #8 WBO, is looking to get a fight against one of the Klitschko brothers, preferably Vitali, but he needs to look good in beating Johnson. Fury is hoping to send a message to Vitali that he means business by beating Johnson badly. A decisive win by Fury over Johnson could be enough to send Vitali into retirement because he’s already considering hanging up his gloves in order to change his profession to that of a politician in Ukraine.
