No sooner has the dust settled from the return to pro boxing to Dublin has the announcement of pro boxing returning to Cork down the deep south of Ireland. Tickets for those who are looking to attend will be available from xtravision out lets. With out a full under card announced it is already looking to be a real cracker.

The bill is to be topped by Gary Spike O Sullivan 15(9)-0 who is fresh of his career biggest win over Matthew Hall 24-6 collecting the WBO International middleweight title in the process last July. His opponent is set to be Anthony “the pride” Fitzgerald 13(4)-3(1) who had a horrible start to his career losing two of is first 3 bouts. Before his career rocketed off winning the Irish title against Ciran Healy and then defending against Lee Murtagh. This run was then than topped off by a career best performance against stopping Affif Belghecham 19-6 in the 5th round and claiming the EBA European Middleweight title and a world top 15 ranking. Affif will be better knowing for taking Darren Barker, Andy Lee and Mathew Macklin the distance. However a proposed world title fight fell through a long with a number of proposed cards causing a period of inactivity. Anthony was last seen in the ring at the very controversial Irish middleweight prizefighter show dropping a split decision to the local home town favourite Eammon O Kane. Fire works are expected with two of Ireland’s more skillful fighters in what really is a 50/50 fight.

The second fight to be announced features the return of fan favourite Oisian Fagan 26(15)-8 who will be remembered for his fight with Amir khan. Oisian has always been very honest in his recognition of his skill level, but what he lack’s in skill he sure makes up in aggression and fight and is not afraid to bring the fight. He is set to face Chris Goodwin 16-2 who is making his second appearance in Ireland having picked up the vacant WBF lightweight title last August, against Istvan Kiss then 10-3 who will always be remembered by those in attendance for getting sick in the middle of the ring after taking a heavy body shot. Its hard to see Oisian Fagan winning against the much younger Goodwin due to inactivity issues. However, Goodwin’s lack of power may prove to be very problematic if Fagan can bring the fight to a brawl.

The under card is set to be announced in the coming couple of day’s and it will be interesting to see if there will be any more title fights added or will any young novices be given some much needed ring time.
