Hatton was literally out cold after walking into a beautiful left hand from Pacquiao. The KO caused Hatton to retire from boxing from 2009 to his comeback fight tomorrow night at the Manchester Arena.

Froch said to the standard.co.uk “If Ricky wants to come back that’s his decision. Good luck to him. But let’s just hope he is in as good shape as he looks and that he doesn’t get hurt.”

Yes, let’s hope Hatton doesn’t get hurt. I really don’t see his conditioning as being something that can accurately predict how he’ll do in the ring, because in his knockout losses to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao, Hatton looked to be in superb shape body-wise.

It was the head shots that gave Hatton all of his problems, not his conditioning. Hatton never looked tired in either fight, and didn’t show any signs of slowing down. But getting tagged in the head was what caused Hatton all the problems.

The same goes for Hatton’s fight with Juan Lazcano in 2008 where Hatton was badly staggered from a hard shot from Lazcano while pressing the attack. Just when Lazcano was about to finish Hatton off, the referee stopped the action and allowed Hatton to have his shoelaces tied. That might have saved Hatton from being knocked out by Lazcano too. Hatton looked in great shape for that fight, and again it was the head shots that gave Hatton his problems.

You can’t blame Froch for being worried about Hatton because the way Hatton was knocked out by Pacquiao it was just scary. When you get knocked out like that it’s dangerous. This is why there are a lot of boxing fans who are against Hatton’s comeback. To be sure, Hatton is facing the right guy in Senchenko rather than a more dangerous fighter, but still even a fighter like Senchenko, a natural welterweight, has enough power in his right hand to knock Hatton out cold if he lands with everything he’s got.
